   The rifle that was converted in this video was converted in 1947. This video only covers the conversion process. Additionally, 8mm ammunition was very limited in the 40s and 50s; this is why many people chose to convert them to 30.06.

   I, personally, would not convert or modify a “matching” WWII era Mauser today, but there are tens of thousands of the mis-matched ones out there, and those I see differently.

   In Norway we get mauser 98k almost for free. Well i bought myself 2 for about 200$. All matching except the barrel, that was changed in the 60 by the army to the more easy to get 30-06 springfield. Modified one to 6.5X55MM Swedish Mauser and the other one i kept 30-06. I also changed the triggers, safety, stocks and added mounting rails and removed the original iron sights. This is normal around here because here is so many of them. An original maching mauser in 7.92 costs around a 1000$.

   i feel your pain some one in my family converted a very nice p-17 winchester from its military wood to cvlian thank gowd they didnt cut the barrel retoration harder than i thought forget trying to find replacment stocks at reasonable cost

   Greetings!Nice video and weapon. Mauser is the same for me too (.30-06 cal.). Your weapon is in Gothic letters (Mod.98.)? Can you find out what is the number of weapon? Mine: 7403 f; barrel: XX 236 SS, I think that Erma’s production. Can you say something about the gun-barrel? (You swapped out the original, or has already been taken?) I can not try such a long distance (the Hungarian legislation does not permit, prohibit it.).The market worth of such a weapon?Greetings from Hungary!
