  1. No idea what he was doing for the first 5 minutes but I want one.

  2. very good video my friend thank you very much for the lesson

  3. Cool! I HATE having to trim .223! With the one shot lube do you not have to delube the cases after sizing?

  4. If you guys ever want coyotes more then welcome to come up to ND and hunt them all you want. There way over populated up here and any farmer welcomes you onto their land to shoot them.

  5. @Iraqveteran8888 maybe you can use youtube edit to trim the video.

  6. @conatuslife I’ll fix it when I get home. Thanks. Didn’t know I could do that.

  7. I’ve been wanting to go progressive for my 9mm and .223. The brass preps the worst, the unfun part a reloading….. lol I don’t mind a couple boxes, but when your doing a couple hundred it gets to be a chore…

  8. I must be missing something. Cases stretch while full length resizing, but also, and mostly, stretch during firing. I don’t see how that die can compensate for the stretch that occurred when the cartridge was fired.

Also, trim size is usually 10 thousandths under maximum. 20 is really pushing it. If you seat to the cannelure you are going to have a significant bullet jump to the rifling.

  9. @Julius44bc The trim length is per the X-Die instructions. The extra 10 thousandths isn’t going to affect anything on the first go around, I just seat to 2.250″ as usual regardless of the cannelure. As far as the stretch goes, I get the most case stretch after the first firing, around 4-6 thousandths in my first batch of X-Die loadings after sizing. After that, the case grows a negligible amount and has settled against the mandrel at about 1.749″.

  10. @Julius44bc Also, I have minimized case stretch during sizing by setting the die to only bump the shoulder 3 thousandths back and by polishing the expander ball with 1500 grit wet sandpaper with a bit of oil.

  11. @thesuperfan99 I think the brass settles at a particular length with the X-Die, the only problem I can see at this point maybe a burr developing on the case mouth from brass with nowhere to go after hitting the mandrel a few times through. We’ll see when we get to that point I suppose. I don’t see the X-Die crushing the shoulder from excessive pressure upon contacting the mandrel.

  12. @steelhorses2004 I always just wipe my cases off with a paper towel after using the One Shot lube.

  13. @steelhorses2004 No, it is recommended to remove the lube after loading. I lay mine between a couple of terry towels and roll them around to remove the lube. The X-Die is just an experiment in loading bulk ammo for practice and plinking in a hurry, however I will still trim, clean, and prime other brass separately for loading match grade ammo.

  14. Thank’s guy’s, great vid. After 40yrs of using a single stage rock chucker I would like to go progressive but I can only afford to go with Lee, which isn’t a bad thing . Any thoughts on which model would be good for handguns but also work for rifles as well. Yu’all’s opinion is greatly valued. Thank’s.

  15. love the video man very well done quite a hot setup you got goin on how is the powder measure for consistency I would like to get a setup like this but im shootin .338 Lapua around 1000 yds so they gotta be pretty tight but at $130/box who can afford to buy the good stuff and besides hand loads from my experience are always better anyhow

  16. Post an update, I’d like to see if this lets you get more life out of your brass and how many times you were able to reload thee same brass as compared to not useing the x-die.

  17. Nice setup and dies. Do you anneal your brass to extend its life?

  18. Today on “How it’s made”……

  19. I have a question… how much money (rough estimate is ok) did you invest in all of the reloading equipment shown in this video?

  20. ParaGIexpert1911

Very nice set up. I have only used single stage but progressive looks too cool. Thanks.

  21. @79thOVI Thanks, I anneal every 4-5 firings.

  22. do you reload shotgun shells ?

  23. Iraqveteran8888

@mrtoretos I have been dabbling in it, yes. The only minor issue there is that I don’t shoot enough shotgun to merit messing with it much….

  24. That reloader is pretty sick, probably running alot of money I suspose.

  25. TexasStraightShooter

Now that folks have been using the thing a while, what is the opinion?

I kinda suspect that if I was to trim my brass 20 thousandths shorter than min, which is 30 thousandths short of max, that I would possibly never have to trim that brass in its lifetime anyway.
